Fresh off the plane from the United States, I had no idea what to expect from my internship experience at Air Management. I knew that the company represented an amazing list of clients, yet I never expected to be in the position that I found my in yesterday.
And where was that position?
Standing stage side at Jason Mraz’s sold out gig at Shepard’s Bush Empire after spending a day with my supervisor escorting Jason to interviews through out London. If you remember Patrick Fugit’s character in Almost Famous, then you will know exactly how I felt that day.
Hitting the stage alone and barefoot, Jason opened up with ‘You and I Both’ before the remainder of his band joined him for what was an amazing hour and 15 minute set. With the music and charisma that have built his fan base over the past couple years, he certainly did not disappoint, working tirelessly to bring the most response out of the 2,000+ crowd.
And when the set did end, he came back with the encore, where Jason surprised everyone by bringing out James Morrison to join him in ‘Details in the Fabric’. Needless to say, you can imagine the crowd’s reaction.
As an intern, I never would have expected to be as involved in the management of an artist as large as Jason. Who knows, sometimes the best experiences come when you expect nothing at all.
