Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Kaki King and Empirical

I woke up on the 10th October not knowing how much of a fun day I was going to have. The excitement began at the BBC TV Centre with Ladysmith Black Mambazo who were performing on the Alan Titchmarsh Show. The performance was aired yesterday, if you missed it don’t you worry as we are launching a video section on the AIR website, this will be uploaded for you to watch as many times as you want. All the members of Ladysmith are truly wonderful people it is a real honour to work with them. They were also on the Andrew Marr show yesterday morning on BBC 1. LBM are in the UK for 6 weeks so if you want to see them live book tickets now http://www.serious.org.uk/

On my way back to the office I was looking at my blackberry clearing through all my emails when I saw a very important message from the producer of Later With Jools Holland. It said “Hi Sheela, We are quite taken with the piece from youtube you have attached... Would she be available to come and play this piece” …I didn’t know whether to scream, jump up and down or hug someone, but as I was on bus packed with loads of school kids I didn’t think that doing any of the above would have been appropriate. The artist in question is the one and only Kaki King who is a new artist on the AIR media roster. Kaki is an extraordinary talent, she is young, beautiful and man can she play that guitar this is what she will be playing on the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wsFeXWc82Y. It will be aired on the November 2nd on BBC 2, please watch it….and look out for me, I am going to try and get on Jool’s piano…. start your bets now!

After this great news I decided that I was going to celebrate that night especially as Bethan, Gbenga, Marc and I were all going to watch and support Empirical recording a live session on BBC Radio 3 Jazz Line-Up. The show will be aired the 20th October, you should definitely listen to this as this band are super hot at the moment. They have had great reviews in the media and adored by the jazz loving public so we are very proud to be their booking agents.

After the show the lovely Keith Loxam provided us with several glasses of wine and soon after I found myself on the back of Julian Joseph’s moped heading towards The Electric in Ladbroke Grove. That was when it all started getting messy the culprits at the after party party were Julian and James Joseph, Daniele White, Dennis Rollins, Marc Connor, Jay Phelps, Shaney Forbes and his lovely girlfriend Adulya, Joe Paice and Helen Maleed. All I can say is that the tequila shots were not my idea…………..hmmmmmmm

Thank you to the lovely Josephs for getting me home safely, really appreciate it.
