Bringing Music Back To The Pheasantry
The Pheasantry on the Kings Rd is a building with an amazing history and a rich musical heritage. Initially this was a royal household sat amongst rolling fields full of pheasants which were hunted for sport, hence the title. Over the last 100 years it has become famous for its artistic connections. During the 1930’s to 1950’s the first floor was the home of a ballet school, in the swinging 60’s the Pheasantry became a bohemian place to hang out. Eric Clapton lived within its walls, Germaine Greer wrote The Female Eunuch, and the Beatles had one of their album sleeves photographed. In the 70’s the lower floor became a music club, Queen, Hawkwind and Yvonne Elliman all performed in this intimate venue and now this historic music venue is coming back to life.
We have recently had Finn Peters and Michael Wollny perform there receiving great reviews, and we look forward to having more artists at this legendary venue in the future.
