Described by Time Out as “The best vocalist we have”, Ian Shaw has earned himself a place in the hearts (and record collections) of jazz fans across the country. He is constantly lauded for his talents (he won Best Vocalist in the 2004 BBC Jazz Awards, was nominated in 2006 and won again in 2007) and admired by his peers and fans for an approach to jazz singing that is at once both assured and confident, yet relaxed. Shaw is certainly no stranger to Ronnie Scott’s, as his first solo album Ghostsongs was recorded there and he has sold out the club on several occasions in the past. His performances here come on the back of the release of his latest album Lifejacket and will no doubt feature a wealth of material both new and old.
